Transportation Fun!

A very happy Monday to everyone!! :)

I actually love Mondays...does that make me crazy? It's my day to organize the week and get a plan...and I LOVE me a plan :)

This week we are learning all about Transportation! I wanted to share this quick, simple activity we did today that my kids LOVED.

First up...I made our Transportation Station.

Hobby Lobby had all these cute wooden, painted shapes that were just perfect for this! Plus they are only .67 a piece, so I could totally rationalize it ;)
I just taped craft sticks to the back and placed them all in a paper-covered formula can. I used tape instead of glue so we could take them off later if the kids just wanted to play with them without the sticks. We went through each mode of transportation and talked about who drives them and what they do.

Then just to make it a little more fun, I made up some lyrics to the tune of "The Wheels on the Bus". It was a great way to teach some of the things Britton didn't know like an ambulance, and the kids loved doing the actions and lifting up their vehicle when it was their turn.

In case anyones interested I made a printable for the lyrics...just a warning, its nothing amazing :) However, my kids loved it so thats enough for me :)

These have kept my kids entertained all morning, so I am a happy camper! Thanks for stopping by today and come back for more Transportation fun all week long. Have a great day!!

Love it, love it! I see those wood pieces at Michaels all the time. Going to grab some next time I'm there!

Love Sweet Love

What a great idea!! I always see those pieces at the store and my kids always play with them while I'm walking around but then I make them put them back because I think...ugh just ONE more toy I'm going to have to clean up if we bring it home-ha ha! But this is such a great idea and my kids would LOVE it! I can't even tell you how HAPPY you posting all these great kid ideas makes me. I just do everything you do the week after, so thanks for making my job EASY! :)
